Recreational Class Program is intended for boys and girls ages 5 and up. Children participate in a 1-hour class once per week and are grouped by both age and ability. Our recreational classes incorporate a 15 minute warm-up followed by 45 minutes of instructional training on all of the Olympic equipment. At MGC, we have designed our own progressive system modeled after the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program. Our classes range from beginner to advanced levels, which allows for the accommodation, happiness, and success of every gymnast. All of our recreational classes follow the MGC Lesson Plan System. This carefully designed system serves as a guide to ensure that all gymnasts are learning the most advanced gymnastics techniques in a fun, safe, environment. The lessons emphasize basic fundamentals such as body alignment, posture; correct hand and foot placement, as well as proper skill progression.

Our Kindergarten classes are for children entering Kindergarten (5 yrs old) and follow the basic lesson plan of our Beginner 1 classes with the difference being that they are co-ed. These classes are also conveniently scheduled to work with most Kindergarten programs. Students are able to switch class times at any time (permitting that there is availability).

The Girls Recreational Program consists of 5 levels ranging from beginner through advanced. Throughout each 13 week session, each gymnast is evaluated for progress by their instructor. With our on-going enrollment policy, gymnasts are able to progress to the next class level at their own pace (a new session does not have to begin for class advancement). Women’s Olympic apparatus and equipment utilized within the girls program are: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, tumble track, trampoline, and our safety foam-filled landing pit. Strength and flexibility conditioning are incorporated through the use of circuit training.

The Boys Recreational Program focuses on working all of the Men’s Olympic events. These include: floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar. Boys also utilize the tumble track, trampoline, and our safety foam-filled landing pit to enhance new skill development and spatial awareness.
